JV Victorious in Season Opener
JV beats Baldwin 3-2 in season opener.
The JV team started slow against the Highlanders getting out-shot 19-2 in the first period but were down only 1-0 thanks to the stellar goaltending of sophomore Ryder Finn.
The tide of the game turned in the second period when freshman Wes Scurci scored two short-handed goals during the same penalty kill. The first short-handed goal was assisted by Nate Marti, the second was an unassisted breakaway goal.
Mars added some insurance in the third period with a goal by Nate Marti that was assisted by Wes Scurci and Zach Gerthoffer.
Baldwin scored a late goal to make it 3-2 but could get no closer.
Ryder Finn ended the game with 34 saves!
