The Mars Hockey Club is reaching out to the parents of all elementary age hockey players residing in the Mars Area School District to gauge interest in a Mars Hockey Elementary / Developmental program. The Club intends on opening this program to birth years 2012-2010 and then will make further decisions based on level of interest.
Currently, the program will include summer ice practice/skill sessions (roughly twice per month) beginning in May with the intent on continuing with a developmental team in the fall. The summer sessions will be led by the Mars Hockey Middle School coaching staff with assistance from current middle and high school players.
Current summer ice sessions are scheduled to be held at Baierl Ice Complex on the following dates:
Sunday, May 2 from 3:00PM to 4:20PM
Saturday, June 12 from 9:30AM to 10:50AM
Saturday, June 26 from 9:30AM to 10:50AM
Saturday, July 17 from 10:00AM to 11:20AM
Saturday, July 31 from 9:30AM to 10:50AM
Additional ice slots after July are TBD
The objective of this program is to introduce players to Mars hockey while providing additional skill development and an opportunity to play alongside their Mars peers.
Click here to Register for the summer ice practice/skill sessions. The cost for the summer ice will be paid for by the Club. The Club also plans on providing the players with practice jerseys and helmet stickers at a nominal fee.
Additional costs and details for continuation into the fall are TBD, though note that there is no commitment for the fall at this time. A parent meeting will be held at one of the ice sessions to talk about the upcoming season and what options might exist, including scrimmaging other schools’ developmental teams, provided there is a sufficient level of interest.
Please register your player and respond to the survey questions so that additional planning can begin. Please direct any questions to Brian Crowley via text 724.814.1189 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. We look forward to getting the next generation of Mars hockey players on the ice together!
