1. What are your plans after high school? If going to college, what college (if you know) and what do you want to study there? Will you be playing hockey anywhere after HS?

Shaun: I plan on attending college (undecided at this time) and pursuing the pre-med track in hopes of completing a Physician Assistant graduate program following my undergrad. I will not be formally continuing hockey, but am looking forward to playing with my brother and dad in an adult league.

2. What is your favorite school subject?

Shaun: My favorite school subject was Anatomy because it was the first class that allowed me to pursue my interest in medicine.

3. Who is/was your favorite teacher (could be any teacher, all the way back to grade school even) at Mars and why?

Shaun: My favorite teacher at Mars is Mr. Kuremsky because he was a very personable teacher and made time to talk with us not only about stats and trig, but about something random and enjoyable.

4. What person (other than your parents) has had the greatest influence on you and why? 

Shaun: My siblings have had the greatest influence on me because they have shaped me into who I am today. Considering hockey, I especially look up to my brother, Ryan, because he also played for Mars Hockey and he was the one who pushed me and helped me play on the Varsity team since freshman year.

5. What is your favorite memory of your Mars Hockey career so far?

Shaun: My favorite memory of my Mars Hockey career would have to be winning the section last year after going on a huge winning streak. The energy during the game and in the locker room is something I’ll never forget. 

6. What kind of music do you like to listen to?

Shaun: I listen to pretty much any kind of music especially rap hip hop, but on a summer day, the country music hits different.

7. What is your favorite movie?

Shaun: My favorite movie is either Forest Gump or Step Brothers, two classics.

8. What is your favorite food?

Shaun: My favorite food is buffalo chicken wings or anything buffalo.

9. How many siblings do you have and their names?

Shaun: I have 3 older siblings, Erin (24), Ryan (23), and Lauren (21).

10. How many pets do you have and what type.

Shaun: I have two golden retrievers named Abby and Lucy. I also have two cats named Annie and Sandy.

11. If you had the chance to have dinner with one person from history (living or dead) who would it be and why?

Shaun: It would have to be my grandpa because he inspires me to strive to do my best in everything and anything possible. My grandparents live in Texas so I do not get to see them often, but when I do, I enjoy hearing about his life and accomplishments he has had in the medical field.  

12. What do you feel has been you biggest accomplishment so far?

Shaun:  My biggest hockey accomplishment so far would have to be playing on the Varsity team since freshman year. It was something I aspired to do since middle school. Academically, my biggest accomplishment would be being accepted into several colleges this year and being a part of the National Honor Society since sophomore year.

13. If your life was made into a movie, what actor would you want to play you?

Shaun: Ryan Reynolds

14. What is one thing you cannot live without?

Shaun: Definitely my friends and family because they continue to support me in everything I do.

15. What is the best vacation you ever took?

Shaun: Going to Cabo San Lucas with my mom last summer is probably the best vacation I have been on because it was a different experience being out of the country and I was able to enjoy time with my mom.

16. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Shaun: In 10 years I hope to have graduated from college and a successful job in the medical field where I’ll be able to help people every day. I also hope to continue to play hockey with my brother and friends in an adult league.

To my parents, thank you for the countless amount of support you have given me throughout my 14 years of hockey. From 5am ADM practices to 11pm high school practices, you were always there for me. Thank you for cheering my on during all my games and being my biggest role models in life. 

To my coaches, thank you for the countless hours you have put into our program. Your dedication to Mars Hockey doesn’t go unnoticed. Thank you for making me the player I am today. 

And finally, to my teammates, you boys will always be my brothers. I will never forget our after practice Sheetz runs, Sunday soccer, or pond hockey. Thank you boys for always having my back.
